This is a full write-up of what happened the day of my show. Some of it doesn't even pertain to the show, so feel free to skip over some parts; I only included it to set the background for what happened later in the day.
I left the house about 12:15pm with my two boys, and headed east down I-94 from Fargo. It's a 4 hour drive or so without stopping from here to St Paul, and I had a few stops to make so I didn't want to take any chances of missing anything. We had to stop along the way for lunch, but we made it to my brother's place to pick him up in about 3 1/2 hours. We talked for a bit and then headed to my home town to drop off the boys at my cousin's place for the night. With the boys dropped off and playing, off we went for the last part of the drive down. I think we got out of there about 4:30pm and had about a 45 minute drive or so to get down to the arena.
We made it down to St Paul in no time, although there is a bit more traffic down in St Paul than up here in Fargo. We found the arena easily enough, but then it took us about 30 minutes to find a parking ramp that looked like we wouldn't get towed. We ended up parking right next to the bar we were going to meet up at, so it all worked out.
We walked into the bar (Alary's) and it was loaded with AC/DC shirts. It was great to see that most were not from Walmart! A lot of diehards and lifetime fans, and there was just a good feeling in the air. I asked around a bit to see if anyone was from the official fan club, and found that most of them weren't members but were just there for the show. I got asked a few times where I was sitting mostly because they were worried about getting stuck behind me. I stand about 7' tall and this guy was about 5'6", so he was relieved to find out I was nowhere near him. We made it farther into the back of the bar and found a small group of official members, so we had a beer and talked a bit.
We were supposed to meet up with 2 groups and head over to the XCel. The first to make it in was a buddy of mine I graduated high school with. We both got into AC/DC about the same time, and it had been one of his goals to see the band live so this was a dream come true. We stood around a bit longer and then decided to head over just so we'd be there. We walked outside and ran into the other group, a guy I met from this site. We talked a bit and started the half mile walk over to the arena.
