here comes september, here comes the newsletter
So September 1st is here. I'm actually writing this on August 29 since I'm out of town, and just scheduling it to send on time so forgive me if I make reference to the wrong days. Aside from that, here's what's news.
'pompeii' is this month's botm -- boston 1878
Alright, before you get bent out of shape, here's the deal. This is by far one of the best sounding bootlegs from '78. It was recorded on August 21, 1978 at the Paradise Theatre in Boston, Mass. This is a very common bootleg, but this is also one that everyone MUST have. If you've already got it, great! I'd invite you to take a listen and hear it again. You may have missed something. If you don't have it, what are you waiting for?? This is a great one to have, and also includes the cover art. Click here to go to the BOTM page. Since this one is pretty common, I will be sharing another toward the middle of the month, most likely to coinside with the release of the new design. See the notes below about why the new version of the site isn't up.
guns for hire has one more day, new one available tomorrow!
Guns for Hire from Montreal in 1983 is available for one more day. If you haven't gotten it yet, go here to get it. A new vid will be up tomorrow (September 2nd). I won't give away what it is, but it is from 2003 and features a unique look at how a concert is filmed. Enjoy!
september dvd give-away
Due to some constraints, I'm going to have to skip the September DVD Give-Away. It will return in October. The main problem is that I haven't figured out where to put the Give-Away stuff on the new site yet, and won't have it figured out until it's too late. My apologies for missing it this month, and be sure to look for it next month.
new design for acdc-bootlegs.com later this month
Since I'm not in town for the turn of the month, the new design won't be up when you visit the site this time around. I could have pushed ahead and had it up, but I wanted to be in town and able to get to a computer in case some bugs came up with it. It's nearly complete at the moment, and I hope to have it up within the first 2 weeks of September. I will send out another email this month (one of the rare times you'll get 2 emails from me in 1 month, I hate spammers) so you know that it's up, and I'll also put up another audio bootleg. The next newsletter will highlight some of the new features and aspects of the site, as well as just to let you know about it. If you haven't seen the screen shot of the new design, check out the post in the forum here. There is a link to the screen shot toward the bottom of the post.
big news on a dvd release
As of August 24th, we found out that there will be a huge dvd package released from the band on October 16. The 2 dvd set will be called 'Plug Me In' and feature a ton of video footage covering 4 decades from the band. Here is a short excerpt from the official article:
"The first disc of Plug Me In is devoted to the band's formative years (1975-1979) with original lead singer, the late Bon Scott capturing the group in its full early glory with more than 20 performances including rare black & white video footage of the notorious St. Albans High School concert on March 3, 1976; the very first UK television appearance in July 1976; pristine live full-color stereo concert performances from Glasgow and Essex University in 1978; and three songs -- including the very first public performance of "Highway To Hell" -- from Netherlands television in 1979."
The 2nd disc will be devoted to Brian, and will feature a number of from the 80's and 90's, including videos from Detroit, Moscow and Toronto. There will also be a deluxe collector's edition available, which will feature a 3rd disc with 21 more rare performances and facsimilie reproductions of authentic AC/DC memoriabilia. This looks to be absolutely huge in the eyes of the fans, as it seems they have finally openned the 'vault' and let a little bit of the treasure out. Here is a link to order it straight from the Sony site: 2 Disc -- 3 Disc. I'll post more info on it when I get it, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on the site.
That's it for now. I will be in touch again later this month.
Talk to you soon,
BigNate
