bon has passed, but is not forgotten ^%First Name|1%^, With it being February, it means that Bon has been gone another year. On February 19th, 1980, he passed away. Even though he is gone, his memory and music remains as strong as ever. The recordings of his concerts, the videos of him in a school girl outfit and other costumes, and especially his albums live strong and invite new fans in for a listen every day. This month is all about Bon on both acdc-bootlegs.com and acdc-videos.com.
bon boots galore on acdc-bootlegs.com When trying to come up with a good way of remembering Bon this month, I wanted to try and put up more than one bootleg again. I'm going to try and do 4 this month, one per week. The first one has been up since the 1st, and will be replaced on the 8th with the next. That first one is from Newcastle, England, on November 2nd, 1978. It features some less common songs played live, and is defiitely one to grab. It's only available for a few more days, so get it while you can. While I can't promise they will all be rare & hard to find, they will definitely celebrate Bon's life and will be fun to listen to. I believe it'll max out my bandwidth for the site, but it'll be worth it!
downloads on acdc-videos.com on hold For the time being, I have to hold of on sharing vids on acdc-videos.com. My laptop died, so I've had to send it in for repairs (2 damn weeks already!) I'll get back to sharing vids once I get it back, but I honestly have no idea when that'll be. It's been a frustrating few weeks without it, so hopefully Toshiba will get off their ass and get it fixed!
new site, familiar face: gui makes his return!
I took over acdc-videos.com from Gui just over a year ago. He was generous enough to let me have the domain after he had problems with his host earlier in the year. Now he is back! He has just opened acdc-live.com today, and is sharing many videos of concerts and interviews. Here's what he had to say about it: "Once called acdclist.com back in 2002, then acdc-videos.com until 2005 (before the domain name was offered to Nate), acdc-live.com is now following the same idea : sharing some great AC/DC videos with the fans of the band all around the world."
I personally am very excited for this site, as I'm sure many others will be too. Welcome back Gui, and the best of luck with the new site! Neither acdc-bootlegs.com or acdc-videos.com would be running without Gui's influence, so be sure to check it out.
february dvd give-away For February, I brought back the Live 77-78 dvd. I had lost my copy for a while when it was on the Give-Away the last time, but found it again and figured this would be the best way to spread some Bon shows around. I'm also including a copy of Let There Be Rock: The Movie from Paris in 1979. This is a dvdr copy of the official release. This Give-Away closes a few days early on February 19th. Get signed up once per day for your chance to win from the home page of acdc-bootlegs.com.
thanks for the donations After asking for help with funding the site for the next year last month, I many more people step up and help out than last year. I believe I had 6 or 7 people chip in this year, donating a few bucks to help out with the hosting. Overall, it paid for about a month of hosting, so it's definitely a big help. Thank you all very much for your support and encouragement.
check this band out For my full time job, I work with the lead singer of a band called 'Noiseunion.' They are a local rock band in the Fargo, ND area influenced by P.O.D., Trust Company, Chevelle and others. They are definitely a great band in my eyes, and are currently working on their third album. You can check out some of their tunes on either their main website at www.noiseunion.com or on their myspace site at www.myspace.com/noiseunion. They helped me through some tough times so I'm just trying to spread the word. Please check them out and buy a cd or 2 if you think they sound alright.
calling all bootleggers With trading getting a bit slow, I figured I'd send out a message to see who out there has recorded an AC/DC show in person and still has the master recording tucked away somewhere. I'm looking for audio or video, from either the Bon or Brian era. I don't have much money to spend if you're selling, so I'd prefer to set up a trade if possible. Or if it's not, I'd like to at least get the venue listing up to date as to which shows have recordings in existence. I figured this would be best way to get the word out; with 8,000+ of the best members a guy could ask for, it can't hurt! Please go here and fill out this form and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for your time, I hope to hear from a lot of you soon.
wrapping it up So that's it for another newsletter. Things have been busy here lately; work, side work, my boys and wife, and some fun mixed in with a LOT of cold weather (it was -3 F when I came into work this morning) have kept me occupied more or less constantly over the past month. I hope things are going well on your end, and I hope things will calm down a bit on mine! Enjoy the boots and please post your reviews. Any feedback is always appreciated.
That's it, talk to you all soon,
BigNate
