my apologies --- again
A lot has happened lately.  In putting the newsletter together, I noticed that it was 2 months ago today that I sent the last newsletter.  I had to take some time away from the sites for family reasons, so I think I'm back to keep things moving and updated.  I'll explain more about what happened later in the newsletter.  Thank you all for your patience and loyalty to the sites; I will do my best to keep them going well into the future.

acdc-bootlegs.com celebrates 3 years
I had my renewal come up for the acdc-bootlegs.com domain on November 5th.  So that means 3 years ago, I first started in on the site.  For those that haven't heard the story yet, here you go.  I first started the site with only the Venue Listing.  I took an excel file that angus_hanger and a few others had put together, and got it posted online mostly so I could use it as a reference for trading bootlegs and getting the correct dates written down.  I had gotten sick of using the paper version I had, so I figured this would be the way to go.  After a while, I added the users and some other general information.  It was at least a few months before I actually shared any bootlegs online, as at that time I didn't have much money to put toward the hosting fees.  11,000+ members later and the rest is history.  I owe a great deal of thanks to the members of the sites for making them so popular and spreading the word.  This site wouldn't be here without all of you.

botm online at acdc-bootlegs.com
The bootleg has actually been online since November 1st or so, but I am just making sure that everyone has a chance to get it.  This month, I'm sharing the show from New York City, NY, recorded on August 30, 1988.  It's online until the end of the month, so be sure to get it and please don't forget to post a review after you've listened to it.  Click here to go to the site.

2 videos online at acdc-videos.com
Since I wasn't able to get a video online in late October, I put up 2 for this stretch.  The first is from the pro-shot Glasgow gig on April 30, 1978, playing Rock and Roll Damnation.  The next is The Razor's Edge from a good quality recording from April 23, 1991 in Birmingham, England.  This is the only time there will be 2 vids online at the same time (as far as I can see anyway), so be sure to grab them while you can!  Click here to go to the site.

dvd give-away on acdc-bootlegs.com
This month's DVD Give-Away is for a pro-shot video from Detroit, MI on November 24, 1990.  It's from early in the tour, so it's a great chance to see the start of one of their biggest tours.  Remember, you can sign up once per day until the 21st, so be sure to sign up every day to increase your chances of winning.  You can sign up on the home page of acdc-bootlegs.com.

an explanation
Over the past 2 months, things have been rough in my personal life.  In August of 2004, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a major surgery to remove most of the affected areas.  On October 20th, 2006, she lost her battle and passed away at home, with my dad at her side.  She was in a lot of pain toward the end and had a hard time functioning, so she is definitely in a better place right now and is at rest.  My family is coping with the loss, as well as many friends and co-workers that my mom made over her long and eventful life.  Throughout most of September and October, I drove the 3 1/2 hour trip many times to visit; sometimes with my wife and kids, a few times just by myself to spend the afternoon & evening with her and my dad.  I couldn't do anything for the pain she had, but it was good to give her a distraction when I could.  Being gone so much took much time away from my 'normal' life.  I had to spend more time getting caught up with work and family and less time on other things I enjoy doing like the websites.  This is the reason things have been inconsistent over the past few months, but I will do my best to get back on track and keep things running smoothly.  Everything is slowly getting back to normal.  Thank you all for your patience during this rough period in my life.

That's it, talk to you all soon,

BigNate
