"AC/DC: song Hell's Bells, inspired "Night Stalker" serial killer, pentagrams on album art (Highway to Hell), violent cover art (If You Want Blood You Got It), guitarist admitted to being 'possessed' while on stage. Band-name AC/DC purportedly stands for Assault Christians Destroy Christians. Promote pedophilia (guitarist dresses like a school boy on stage), extremely offensive and harsh sound, produces a spirit of hatred and anger. Lead singer, Bon Scott "drank himself to death" at age 33. Avoid this band like the plague."

I thought it was "Night Prowler" that inspired the Night Stalker.

It is him we should be afraid of realy , someone that can't see life itself rather than "just" the way in the bible wich in turn he doesn't read properly because GOD said I will welcome all , Jesus died for all of us so we can enter heaven.
That man makes it sound like there's only one way to live and get into heaven but it sounds like a punishment the way he brings it.Shouting like a beast himself to get attention...... what can I make of that ? In turn he says "if you don't do what Jesus (I) says , you will go to hell .
I always thought it was a free choise not blackmail.
This all sounds like I'm a Christian but I don't praktise ANY relligion but Neither am I condemning people that think different than me.
I was tought to let people live their live if they don't hurt anyone through that.

i am deeply religious, and to see this makes me ashamed to know that we have such dumb asses in my religion, its music, as long as they dont start praising satan or talkin shit bout god im staying with these legends. AC/DC forever.

----------------------------------------

"We just want to make the walls cave in and the ceiling collapse. Music is meant to be played as loudly as possible, really raw and punchy, and I'll punch out anyone who doesn't like it the way I do." - Bon Scott.

“By sticking to what we do, that's being brave. The pressures we were under in the '80s and '90s to use wind machines and wear leather coats, those were hard times. People thought we were dinosaurs, that we lost the plot because we weren't sparkly and cutie-wootie enough." - Brian Johnson

"I don't like to play above or below people's heads. Basically, I just like to get up in front of a crowd and rip it up." - Angus Young

“We've always been a true band. You won't find one any truer. AC/DC will always be AC/DC.” - Malcolm Young

“The word ‘natural’ comes up a lot with us - if something doesn't feel natural to us, we don't do it.” - Cliff Williams

“Sometimes I pull the earpieces out and say, 'Awww, let's just go for it, and act young!'" -Phil Rudd

"No band has come closer to doing what AC/DC has done, they didn't just become a part of musical history, but they forged their name right in the center of it all, no one will ever be better. The Highway To Hell may be nearing the last miles, but they have forever been recorded in the souls of any fan, so to the time we have left, and to the infinite joy after; 'RIDE ON'"- Esau Gutierrez.

Never knew this about Bon: Scott, who wore a Satanic pentagram around his neck....

And also another fact I didn't know: AC/DC was up-front with their fans when they made it clear that they not only achieved fame as a rock band by Satan's power, but that also desired to drag their listeners into eternal damnation with them...
"if God's on the left, I'm on the right, I'm gonna take ya to hell, I'm gonna get'cha, Satan got'cha, Hell's Bells, If you're into evil, you're a friend of mine."

Umm...wasn't Hells Bells written by old B.J.? And...wasn't Highway to Hell at least in part a reference to a dangerous road?

The least this douche bag piece of shit could do is get his fiction straight before he shoves a crucifix up his ass and goes out to witness to everyone with whom Jesus hasn't decided to intervene directly...

It''s the infantile conceptualization of evil and the presumptuousness that gets me.

Obviously a joke? I just took a quick look at it, but I'm not sure. The guy has a myspace account where he's added a bunch of Bible verses and mixed them in with Highway to Hell.

I stick with my appraisal of "douche bag piece of shit". Apologies to the comedian if I'm mistaken.

Come on. Anybody THAT religious doesn't fixate on rock music being the devil, much less Highway to Hell. Even back in the '80s nobody was that nuts. It's a parody.

As much as I'd like to believe it's parody, there's alot of religious nuts who focus on alot of shit. Music seems to not be the focus right now, but that doesn't mean that a few aren't going to focus on it. I mean, I distinctly remember reading a website for movie reviews that recommended movies based on Christian "values".

Besides...who the hell would parody the religious right's obsession from 25 years ago? No one would get the reference today....'cept maybe Dee Snyder. Also, with that...fuck Tipper Gore.

There I said it.

when did a Pentagram become a Satanist symbol?

The Pentagram is a symbol of a star encased in a circle. Always with 5 points (one pointing upward), each has its own meaning. The upward point of the star is representative of the spirit. The other four points all represent an element; earth, air, fire, and water. All these things contibutite to life and are a part of each of us.

To wear a pentagram necklace or other form of jewelry, is to say you feel the connection with the elements and respect the earth.
Up until medieval times, the five points of the pentagram represented the five wounds of Christ on the Cross. It was a symbol of Christ the Saviour. This is in stark contrast to today where the pentagram is criticized by modern Fundamentalist Christians, as being a symbol of evil.

funny that eh?

The Dictionary of Symbolism by Hans Brierderman. I'm sure more detailed info can be found by much deeper study.

BJ888: This was obviously done by somebody who is interested in AC/DC and rock music. These people that do think it's evil only think so because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the music in the first place. It's a joke.

Even if I knew going to an AC/DC concert would get me sent straight to hell, I still wouldn't miss out on Charlotte '08. And that was the Black Ice Tour; you don't know what I'd do to have seen one on Ballbreaker or even SUL.

And...what people who don't know AC/DC fail to understand is that songs that reference Hell or Satan are typically tongue-in-cheek parodies of cultural perception, folklore, or longstanding mores. At least they often start out that way with AC/DC.

Also, it is important to remember that both Brian Johnson and Bon Scott have exceptional proclivities for the double entendre.

A good example is Highway to Hell. The literal interpretation is that Bon is traveling down that dangerous Australian road (I believe there is at least some connection to a local nickname for a perilous throughway somewhere) on the way to his favorite bar.

This leads nicely into the more metaphorical interpretation, in which Bon is addressing the admonitions of "proper society" that, with his boozing/rock n' rolling lifestyle, he is headed for an early death and/or punishment in the afterlife. Basically he's been told that doing what he loved was going to get him undesirable consequence X, and in response he writes a song in which he embraces his lifestyle and makes light of the proposed consequence.

Another good example is Hells Bells by Brian Johnson. There are a lot of things at play here, but most are similar to the case with HTH.

First, this song was written in the wake of Bon's death, during a thunderstorm, with Johnson alone in his room, under the influence of alcohol, and likely feeling a tremendous amount of pressure to produce lyrics for the band's first album with him.

People said Bon was going to Hell, Bon made fun of it, so perhaps Brian was influenced to do the same. But Bon had died, plus the riff for HB is rather ominous, hence the scarier nature of HB's lyrics.

Like HTH, this song is playing on traditional lore of a fear of Hell and of the devil as being a scary, unstoppable entity that comes to get you in the night. The sound of a lone bell echoing in the dark of night is chilling, it goes with the riff, and Brian's narrative (speaking as either Satan, his emissary, and/or a third party witness the events), mixes the ominous with the simply badass.

It's important not to get too caught up in the literal interpretation of the lyrics, as this song (and most others) have several levels of interpretation. I think that's what makes them resonate with us so much. On the one hand, this might be an interesting mix of folklore/tongue-in-cheek fucking with the establishment, but it's also just another badass song about coming after someone for some reason or another. The fact that the hunter is a devil is fairly inconsequential; it's a huge part of what the song came to be, but under other circumstances it could've taken a completely different trajectory.

Satellite Blues, on the other hand, is pretty much just about watching porn.
